The need to touch and to be touched is established early in our lives. As we become adults, move away from our immediate families and find ourselves constrained by social and cultural norms and attitudes, this need often gets pushed down to the bottom of our priority list or remains ignored.
Yet even as adults we still need to be held, hugged, touched, stroked, caressed, and affectionately massaged. In fact studies show that deprivation of physical affection can become a main cause of depression, aggression and drug abuse. Practicing welcomed, affectionate touch without sexualizing it can improve relationships of all kinds.
At a Cuddle Party not only will you have your needs for touch satisfied, you will also:
- get a chance to practice a number of communication tools for negotiating;
- explore your own needs and practice expressing them;
- practice setting boundaries, saying and receiving no;
- get energised by the long-lasting effects of the affectionate touch and "cuddle chemical"oxytocin;
- meet fascinating people in a safe, drug- and alcohol-free environment;
- challenge myths and assumptions we have about men and women;
At the very least, you will have a great time, and leave feeling energised and inspired.
Cuddle Party events are happening all over the US, in Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, and now in Sweden. And you are invited to join.
